The shoreline moved north
Late in 2025, Martis Camp Club closed on the historic Mourelatos Lakeshore Resort in Tahoe Vista. In the club's own summer letter to members, general manager language framed 2026 as the first summer where members can utilize Martis Camp's recent purchase of the Mourelatos Lake Tahoe Resort and spend days at the Lake Club on the shores of Lake Tahoe, along with the ability to Cruise Tahoe on the MC Yacht.
Two numbers matter here. The Mourelatos parcel carries 3.2 acres of prime lakeside land with over 275 feet of lakefront that constitute one of Tahoe's largest sandy beaches. For a private club with 671 homesites, that is not a rounding error. It is the difference between a Saturday that ends at a pool and a Saturday that ends with kayaks on the water at 6 p.m.
For homeowners this means the shape of the day has changed:
- The lake day no longer requires a public beach permit, a Kings Beach parking hunt, or an early launch out of Sierra Boat Company.
- The commute to water shortens to Highway 267 and a straight run down to the North Shore.

What Family Barn is booking against a bigger footprint
The Summer Concert Series at the Family Barn amphitheater is now competing with the lake for members' attention, and the booking reflects that. According to the club's own summer preview, the Summer Concert Series remains one of the highlights of the season, transforming the Family Barn amphitheater into an unforgettable outdoor venue surrounded by towering pines and mountain air, with performers including nationally-recognized artists such as Chris Kelley, Red Hot Revolution, and Sugar Ray. The opener was earlier in the summer: the Summer Concert Series kicks off with the Gin Blossoms on June 29th, and the Summer Wine Dinners feature seven winemakers from June to August.

For residents, the utility of the Village has changed. Two summers ago it was where a Martis Valley Saturday landed after golf. This year, with the club's lake option available, it functions more like a Thursday-night default: dinner at Wild Pine or a slice at Rubicon Pizza Company, a drink at the Rink Bar with live music behind it, and a walk home rather than a drive. That is the current version of what the resort itself pitches, which is mountainside dining with a slice at Rubicon Pizza Company, California fresh cuisine at Wild Pine, or a drink at the Rink Bar with nightly live music.
The Martis Valley Grille on the Northstar course still functions as it always has for locals who want a lunch and a view without a member number, with breakfast and lunch on the patio overlooking the golf course and the valley floor. Trailhead Social filled the weeknight gap
The other change that residents will notice by August is that the drive between downtown Truckee and Northstar now has a real dinner option in the middle. Martis Valley Lodge opened with a location strategically positioned between downtown Truckee, Northstar California Resort, and the Truckee Tahoe Airport, filling a vital niche in the region's hospitality offerings sitting between limited-service hotels and high-end luxury resorts. Its restaurant, Trailhead Social, is where the practical value shows up: the property's restaurant and bar has quickly become a local favorite, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere where guests and locals can unwind after outdoor adventures, with a menu of elevated comfort food made with local ingredients.
For homeowners in Lahontan, Schaffer's Mill, Martis Camp, and the Northstar-adjacent parcels, the lodge sits at almost the geographic center of the group. It is the walk-in Tuesday-night backstop that this corridor did not have.
The read for Martis Valley homeowners
Three things are worth carrying out of this summer if you own here.
First, the club's lakefront pivot is not a marketing flourish. The 3.2-acre Mourelatos Lakeshore Resort, a property known for one of the lake's largest sandy beaches within a commercially zoned area, opens the door for expanded member access and recreation along the shoreline, and both the board and the membership overwhelmingly approved the purchase. A private club with its own operating beach and its own yacht is a different asset than a private club with a shuttle to a public dock. Second, the calendar reorganizes around the lake now. Concerts, wine dinners, and the Family Barn anchor weeknights. Weekends run to Tahoe Vista.
